Kiln Fusing

   Minimize
Glass fusing, sometimes called warm glass, is the technique of heating pieces of compatible glass in a kiln until they are completely fused. Classes include all glass, materials and tools.

Love Bugs (New!)

Make a 4” heart-shaped 3-D bug with wire legs and a funky Volkswagen bug that will stand on it’s own 4 wheels!  You’ll learn basic glass cutting skills and learn an introduction to kiln fusing while having fun making your very own 70’s style wacky “bugs”.

This beginning kiln fusing workshop uses the eye-catching floral art of Georgia O’Keefe and Vincent Van Gogh as inspiration. You’ll learn how to cut glass and discover creative ways to incorporate stringer, confetti and frit into your beautiful, layered 9” floral bowl.

Inspired by Monet’s Water Lilies (New!)

This beginning kiln fusing workshop uses the impressionistic artwork of Claude Monet as 
inspiration to create your own water lily scene. You’ll learn how to cut glass and discover creative ways to incorporate stringer, confetti, frit and sparkly dichroic glass onto a 6 x 9 flat panel that can be framed or slumped to become a candle screen.

Fusing Exploration - Your choice!

4 WEEKS

Explore kiln fusing!  Work with beautiful transparent and opaque glass while learning basic kiln-fusing skills and techniques including glass cutting, use of glass grinder and saw. Incorporate dichroic glass, stringer, frit and confetti as you design and create an abundance of jewelry, coasters, bowls, sun catchers, wind chimes and artistic wall hangings.

3-D Dichroic Pendants (Back by Popular Demand!)

Create 4 beautiful sparkling dichroic pendants. Your assembled artwork will be fired in a kiln and finished with bails to make them ready-to-wear when you pick them up 10 days following your class. These pendants have a 3-dimensional metallic look. You will learn how to cut glass, use resist stickers and etching cream. There will be several design choices including a dragonfly, butterfly, flowers and leaves. Come have fun and make unique pieces of art for yourself or gifts for others.

Family Fusing Frenzy –Bunches of Bugs!

Join us for one  or all three sessions as we create a bounty of bugs! These introduction to kiln fusing workshops 
are perfect for families looking for something to do together. February brings butterflies, beetles and dragonflies that will brighten the long last days of winter. In March we’ll make bug magnets and a garden stake. April brings another bug magnet and a free standing 6” bug with wire legs, antenna, etc. perfect to put out in the garden.

Sweet Treats (New!)

Tame your sweet tooth by making a 9” candy-themed bowl and a cupcake nightlight. This beginning kiln fusing workshop will give you  some sweet results. Learn the basics of cutting glass, how to add confetti, stringer and frit and see what different firing temperatures can do to glass.

Fused & Stained Glass Fusion

3 WEEKS

Learn fusing and stained glass skills while you create two projects in this 3 week class. Learn to cut, stack and layer glass to create kiln fused components. Then use these components to learn the stained glass-copper foil construction method as you create a stunning wind chime, sun catcher or garden art. Your second project will use traditional colored glass of your choice for a stained glass and wire sun catcher.

Garden Party Appetizer Set (New!)

Get ready for summertime entertaining in this one-day bead making and kiln fusing class. You’ll start the day in the fusing studio creating a 9” round or two 5” x 10” serving trays. After a break for lunch you’ll move to the flame studio and learn the basic skills of forming beads on a mandrel. You will be working with soft glass (Moretti) to create  multiple beads. You will be able to choose 2 beadable items from a selection of spoons, forks or spreaders and we’ll share the resources to order more!
