Kiln Fusing

   Minimize
Glass fusing, sometimes called warm glass, is the technique of heating pieces of compatible glass in a kiln until they are completely fused. Classes include all glass, materials and tools.

Fused Candle Screen

1 DAY

$105 for Member

Here’s a unique gift or treat for yourself — create a candle screen you will treasure for years. We will review basic fusing and cutting techniques, then learn now to use special glass paints and bubble paints. Frit and vitrograph stringers will also be available. All supplies are included.

Kiln Formed Knobs and Drawer Pulls

2 WEEKS

$80 for Members
$90 for Non-members

Create one-of-a-kind, colorful, round glass drawer pulls and knobs. Students will use a variety of 90 COE glass elements including frit, stringer, chips and shards to fill small molds that will be kiln fired. The resulting outcome is four wonderfully individual additions to your home décor. The second class will be spent learning the proper techniques for cold working and adding finishing hardware to your knobs.

Fused Backsplash Tiles

Learn the basics of fused glass with frit, stringer and confetti to design 4 glass tiles for accents. Sizes will vary - totaling a 12” square. Bring design ideas, color samples and photos of your kitchen or bath.

New! Key or Jewelry Holder

Create a colorful 6” fused glass tile to insert into one 8 3/4” black metal frame to hang on the wall. You’ll learn how to cut glass and discover creative ways to incorporate stringer, confetti and frit into your project. This will make a perfect decoration for your home or a fun personalized gift. The frame has 4 hooks for keys or jewelry.

3-D Dichroic Pendants (Perfect for Gift Giving!)

$120 members
$150 non-members

Create 4 beautiful sparkling dichroic pendants. Your assembled artwork will be fired in a kiln and finished with bails to make them ready-to-wear when you pick them up 10 days following your class. These pendants have a 3-dimensional metallic look. You will learn how to cut glass, use resist stickers and etching cream. There will be several design choices including a dragonfly, butterfly, flowers and leaves. Come have fun and make unique pieces of art for yourself or gifts for others.

Fused Glass Holiday Ornaments

Students will create a variety of holiday ornaments while learning basic kiln-fusing skills and techniques including glass cutting, use of glass grinder and saw. You will add inclusions of mica, bronze and copper. Work with different kinds of glass such as dichroic, iridized, transparent, opaque, stringer, frit and confetti to design and uniquely create holiday themed glass art.

Gifts from the Heart - Holiday Gift Workshop

$45 registration fee, price per project varies

Get your holiday shopping done early! You pick the gifts you’d like to make and how many you want to complete in the 2.5 hours. Each project is priced individually starting at $8 for a pendant and up to $60 for a 9” dish. Learn how to cut, stack and layer glass in unique patterns and realistic designs. You will have lots of projects to choose from to meet your $45 minimum. We will add up your gifts at the end and you can check them off your shopping list!

Galaxy Pendants—Give them the Moon and the Stars!

2 WEEKS

$85 for Members

In the first week of this class you will learn traditional lampworking techniques to create star and simple crescent moon cane from COE 104 glass. In the second class you will nip the cane into murrini for use in creating the fused glass pendant. This class will introduce you to basic kiln fusing techniques as you combine flamework and fused glass skills to create two beautiful galaxy pendants. Two bails are included to finish your two pendants so they will ready to hang on a necklace.

Combining Fused Glass with Stained Glass Techniques

3 WEEKS

$75 for Members
$95 for Non-members  

Experiment with the art of kiln fusing and stained glass techniques while learning the basics of both glass mediums. You have a choice of two projects, a beautiful glass box or elaborate sun catcher. The first week you will learn about kiln fusing tools, how to cut, stack and layer glass, frit and confetti to make the center for your project. The last two weeks you will be introduced to the copper foil method of stained glass as you complete a 6”x4”x2” box and attach the fused art or choose to create an elaborate sun catcher.
