Kiln Fusing

Glass fusing, sometimes called warm glass, is the technique of heating pieces of compatible glass in a kiln until they are completely fused. Classes include all glass, materials and tools.

Class Registration Information

  • All classes, workshops and open studio require pre-registration. To register: use the PayPal links below or call our office at 269-552-9802
  • A deposit of 1/2 of the class tuition is required to reserve space.
  • Payment in full is due no later than the first-class session.
  • Cancellations received 48 hours prior to start date, will result in a full refund minus a non-refundable registration fee of $30.00.
  • Cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to start date and no-shows will result in forfeit of all class tuition.
  • The West Michigan Glass Art Center reserves the right to cancel. Students will be notified and a full refund of monies paid will be returned.
  • All cancellations made by a student will be refunded in the form of a WMGAC gift certificate.  If WMGAC cancels the class, we will give you a full cash refund in the form of a check.

Sparkling Fused Glass Gems and Jewelry


$100 (Members)

This class is for beginning to advanced students.Make sparkling glass jewelry! Learn to work with dicrhoic glass, use a saw and grinder, adding inclusions, and various types of COE 90 glass (dichroic, iridized, transparent, opaque, stringer, frit and confetti). After your projects are fused you’ll finish them with jewelry findings and wire wrapping. Class includes a starter packet of dichroic (sparkling) glass, wire and jewelry findings. Additional dichroic glass will be available for purchase.

Fusing Exploration Intensive

Explore kiln fusing! Work with beautiful transparent and opaque glass while learning basic kiln-fusing skills and techniques including glass cutting, use of glass grinder and saw, kiln preparation, firing schedules for tack, full and slump cycles. Incorporate dichroic glass, stringer, frit and confetti as you create an abundance of jewelry, coasters, bowls, sun catchers and wind chimes. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch each day.

3-D Dichroic Pendants


$105 (Members)

Create 2 - 3 beautiful sparkling dichroic pendants. Your assembled artwork will be fired in a kiln and finished with bails to make them ready-to-wear when you pick them up 10 days following your class. These pendants have a dimensional metallic look. You will learn how to cut glass, use resist stickers and etching cream. There will be several design choices including a butterfly, flowers and leaves. Come have fun and make unique pieces of art for yourself or gifts for others.

Family Fusing Frenzy –Bunches of Bugs!

Join us as we create a bounty of bugs! This introduction to kiln fusing workshop is perfect for families looking for something to do together. Explore your creepy crawly-side with a bug magnet and a free standing 6” bug with wire legs, antenna, etc. perfect to put out in the garden.

Fused 8-Panel Wind Chime


$65 (Members)

Create a colorful design on a combination of 8 (1”x 7”) panels of clear glass. You will learn the basics of using kiln fusing tools and techniques. At the second class we’ll suspend the fired panels, side-by-side, to form an 8”x 8” hanging wind chime that is both beautiful to see and hear.

Summer Fusing Fun!



Are you looking for something to fill an afternoon this summer? Join us for this “a la carte” class. You pick the projects you’d like to make and how many you want to complete in the 2.5 hours. Each project is priced a la carte starting at $8 for a pendant and up to $60 for a 9” dish. You will have lots of projects to choose from to meet your $45 minimum. We will total up your projects at the end.

Fused and Stained Glass Fusion


$100 (Members)

Learn fusing and stained glass skills while you create a 10” x 10” piece in this 3 week class. Learn to cut, stack and layer glass to create kiln fused components. Then incorporate your components with stained glass. Learn the copper foil construction method as you create a stunning wind chime, sun catcher or garden art. For wind chimes, students may incorporate their own beads to further personalize their project.
