Stained Glass

   Minimize
Centuries-old technique of assembling separate pieces of colored glass to form a glass panel or window. Common techniques use lead channel (came) to assemble the pieces, or soldering pieces together that have been wrapped with a copper foil tape. Classes include all glass, supplies and tools.

Broken Glass and Dishes into Stained Glass Art

4 WEEKS

$120 for Members
$150 for Non-members

Ever wonder what to do with all that broken china or those beautiful bottles you once cherished, or how about those wine bottles collecting on the back porch waiting to be recycled? Let’s use them to create a sculptural stained glass piece! Learn to recycle broken china, serving plates, wine bottle bottoms, sea glass, stemware bottoms and faceted stained glass jewels into beautiful stained glass art pieces.

Prerequisite: Ages 16 and up, previous Stained Glass experience.

Beginning/Intermediate Stained Glass, Copper Foil Method

3 WEEKS

$75 for Members
$95 for Non-members

Students will learn to work with a pattern, safely use cutting tools, select and fit the glass to the pattern, foil the glass and solder the pieces together. Learn the steps to finish an 8”x10” project or choose two smaller projects. Your project may require work outside of class time to complete your piece.

Prerequisite: no experience necessary.

“Come Fly with Me”*

1 DAY

$30 for Members
$50 for Non-members

Use those small strips of leftover glass to create a beautiful scene with a flock of birds or any scene with small shapes. Use copper sheeting to create small shapes to enhance a small piece of glass. Connect them using wire, giving the piece a 3-D element.

Prerequisite: Basic stained glass or soldering skills.

Combining Fused Glass with Stained Glass Techniques

3 WEEKS

$75 for Members
$95 for Non-members  

Experiment with the art of kiln fusing and stained glass techniques while learning the basics of both glass mediums. You have a choice of two projects, a beautiful glass box or elaborate sun catcher. The first week you will learn about kiln fusing tools, how to cut, stack and layer glass, frit and confetti to make the center for your project. The last two weeks you will be introduced to the copper foil method of stained glass as you complete a 6”x4”x2” box and attach the fused art or choose to create an elaborate sun catcher.

Prerequisite: Age 12 and up, no experience necessary.
